The Akie River occurrence is plotted as being located near a mountain top, south of the Akie River and approximately 15 kilometres west of Sikanni Chief Lake.

The area between the Akie and Ospika rivers is underlain by Cambrian to Ordovician Kechika Group argillaceous limestones and argillites. Conformably overlying the Ketchika Group on the ridge separating the two rivers is an unnamed Upper Ordovician quartzite unit and Silurian Nonda Formation siltstone.

Small "copper veins" are reported to occur between the headwaters of the Ospika and Akie rivers. The host unit is unknown.

Work History

The Akie River showing was documented in MINFILE based on the above description, the source of which was Bulletin 20.

The Aikie-Sika property was staked by David Heyman in late 2005, presumably to cover a previously documented showing, the Akie River (094F 007). Ownership of the claim was transferred to Megastar Developments Corporation in early 2007. The following year, Rio Grande completed an airborne magnetic survey on the area.

In 2007 an exploration program by Mantle Resources Inc covered the AIKIE-SIKA property consisted of one reconnaissance soil sampling line as well as limited prospecting and mapping. No strong trends of mineralization were revealed through either the soil geochemistry or field observations.
